THE TRUSTED, DALLAS-BORN-AND-BRED source for home organization, The Container Store, unveiled a brand-new location late last year that is dedicated to stunning closet solutions. One of only two locations of its kind in the nation, The Container Store Custom Closets offers North Texans a one-stop-shop for all things closet organization, and it’s conveniently located fronting the Dallas North Tollway, just a hop away from The Container Store’s former long-standing outpost facing the Dallas Galleria.
The reason for the new space was simple: to give the expanded product lines their due, with more display vignettes and a larger assortment of organizational products under one roof.
“Our customers are super visual,” says Erin Hogue, vice president of Custom Closets for The Container Store. “Having a large amount of displays allows us to inspire our customers with the different ways that our closet systems can work for them. They may come in knowing they have a storage challenge but not know how to solve it until they see things in person.”
That includes displays of every color and hardware combination offered across The Container Store Custom Closets’ four product lines. And the hub of the operation is a full-service design center, equipped with knowledgeable staff who help homeowners and trade members alike achieve levels of organization one can usually only dream of.
“If you can imagine it, we can design it,” Hogue states. “Sometimes people think their organization challenge is insurmountable, but it’s really not. We’re here to show our customers that you don’t have to have a massive home to be organized. We can organize the smallest drawer to the largest closet.”
The Container Store Custom Closets offers four product lines. The trusted standby Elfa Classic has 72 years of Swedish engineering and manufacturing behind it. Elfa’s fancier iteration, Elfa Décor, features super-durable, real wood drawers and shelving in four finishes. A new-to-market line called Avera offers techie upgrades, like integrated lighting, and drawers that push to open, fully extend on their own and close softly. And then there is the ultra-custom, high-end Laren line, with integrated lighting, luxe glass-fronted or solid cabinetry and freestanding vertical members.
Each line offers particular benefits for different projects. “We have something for every style, every size, and every budget,” Hogue assures. “We can solve any area of your home at any price point. If you want Laren in your kids’ playroom, we can do that, but we also have a great playroom solution with Elfa Classic.”
The process of designing your own perfect closet starts with either an in-home consultation or a consultation at The Container Store Custom Closets.
For DIY homeowners, Elfa Classic and Décor lines can be purchased in-store and installed yourself the same day. For those who would rather let professional install things, that service is also available.
Avera and Laren require a professional to measure and install. Yet, the whole process, from selection to installation, can be achieved in a few weeks. With the enormous assortment of custom closet companies in the marketplace, The Container Store stands tried and true after 42 years in the business. It’s admired far and wide by legions of loyal customers who helped grow the business into a national brand from its first location in Dallas at the Preston-Forest shopping center.
Hogue, a veteran member of The Container Store staff, chalks up the company’s success to three main aspects, saying, “We have the breadth of assortment, experience, and time-tested quality products that our clients have grown to count on and tend to
be imitated by the competition.”
