STAND UP

Elevation Concepts elevates the experience of working and learning from home

ILOVE IT WHEN I CAN STAND UP!” exclaims Mia Newman when she does her schoolwork at a sit/stand desk. The enthusiastic 10-year-old is the daughter of Scott Newman, the founder of Elevation Concepts, an innovative company that designs sleek, modern and minimalist standing desks and tables with dry-erasable glass surfaces. The proclamation is not a scripted commercial for her father’s company but a visceral reaction to the experience of working and learning at a standing desk. Mia and her 4-year-old sister love drawing and learning at the desk almost as much as their parents love working there.

“Kids are no different than adults. Just like their parents, many of them are working from home, on Zoom or Google Classroom meetings, and need to stay engaged,” says Newman, who notes that standing desks are even more relevant with so many people working from home and children learning remotely.

A great alternative to hovering over the dining room table or working from your bed, a standing desk is a healthier way to work. Elevation Concepts produces high-quality standing desks and tables that inspire productive, healthy, safe and active workspaces. The green product’s highlights include an antimicrobial writable glass surface. The desks and tables are 100% made in the USA and come in a rainbow of 150 colors.

Newman launched the company in 2016 and has helped businesses grow considerably with a focus on increasing productivity and employee wellness. As the pandemic forced many people to work from home, he astutely observed that while many people would need ways to work at home, they did not have dedicated office space. In order to meet this need, Elevation Concepts expanded its original product line and is now offering a 24-by-48-inch work-from-home standing desk that is perfect for smaller spaces and has a more affordable price point. “I wanted to allow more people to gain access to a high-quality product,” says Newman, who also designed new products such as a contemporary height-adjustable column.

“Work has evolved, and you need to change your work space,” notes Newman, who is keenly aware that work environments are very dynamic. “As we move into a post-pandemic world, people will be looking for innovative ways to work remotely with a high degree of productivity and efficiency. Many people will be sharing time in the office and at home where it is easy to transfer germs back and forth. Our antimicrobial surfaces, when disinfected, kill bacteria on contact, which gives employees peace of mind that their work space is germ-free.” Newman also notes that his team will come out and evaluate your space and needs to create a custom ergonomic workstation for your home office or office space.

A standing desk has many benefits, which include lowering the risk of weight gain and obesity, blood sugar levels
and heart disease; reducing back pain; improving mood and energy levels; boosting productivity; and helping you live a longer life.

Along with a standing desk, Newman recommends that you outfit your office or home work space with an anti-fatigue mat to stand on, an ergonomic keyboard and computer mouse, a custom chair and an organized storage system, in addition to choosing an optimal location with proper lighting and a big dose of inspiration.

Newman is also invested in philanthropy and has been working with Easter Seals North to donate desks to children with disabilities who are learning from home. Elevation Concepts also gives a discount to essential frontline workers and teachers. Newman invites you to schedule a virtual or in-person consultation to customize your home office work space. *
